Madison Recycling Tours: See this website.

Scout Site primitive campsite at Dismals Canyon
See their website here. This should be a fun camping trip for boys. There's an easy 1.5 mile hike through the canyon, on which to take a guided tour at night to see the "Dismalites". These are glowworms that are unique to only a few places on Earth, including Dismals Canyon and New Zealand. Swimming is also available in the canyon during the summer.

Hiking on Rainbow Mountain: Info and maps here.

Naval Air Museum, Pensacola, FL
See the museum web site here. The museum is on the Navy base, so you might be asked to show car registration and proof of insurance to get on the base. Distance from Madison is 351 miles and driving time is 6 hr 24 min. Distance from USS Alabama to Naval Aviation Museum is 59 miles and driving time is 1 hr 18 min.
